Integrated Project Delivery Support

Get daily or weekly project support from Concord® consultants and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)

Sometimes, when project teams falter, the best solution is to bring in an independent subject matter expert to help. Daily coaching and hands-on project management support from a neutral, experienced outsider can help diffuse tensions, mitigate risks, and get a project team back on track. At Concord® we call this service Integrated Project Delivery Support, or IPDS.

Clients who bring us in to provide Integrated Project Delivery Support are typically working on capital projects that are at high risk of being delivered late and over-budget. In many cases, the teams we join are fractured or performing below capacity. We have an excellent track record of helping leaders turn things around.

Project Delivery Support at a Glance

In the simplest terms, Concord® helps teams by providing project management support that is rooted in construction-driven project delivery strategies. We use Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), Predictability Thinking® , fast-tracking expertise, and other proven approaches that support on-time, on-budget project delivery.

To achieve this, we assign a Concord Certified AWP Champion and Subject Matter Expert (SME) along with experienced consultants who have successfully delivered capital projects worth billions of dollars. For the first six to eight months — the critical phases — our team will provide hands-on coaching and support to the project team across all of its functions, on a daily basis or weekly basis. Typically, our team remains with your team in an advisory capacity for up to 18 months.

A Closer Look: The Components of Project Delivery Support

Concord’s Integrated Project Delivery Support looks different for every organization, but I’ll outline some of the primary supports that most clients benefit from.

Dedicated Coaching Sessions — Concord® SMEs and consultants meet 1:1 with project managers, your construction management team, engineering and procurement teams and your AWP Champion to provide tailored coaching and support.

Alignment Interventions —  If engineering, procurement, and construction are working at cross-purposes, Concord® SMEs and Consultants can step in to educate and facilitate better alignment using the Path of Construction (POC) methodology and other tools in Concord’s toolbox.

Tailored Workshops — The Concord® team can facilitate targeted workshops on topics ranging from planning and definition to Path of Construction (PoC), expediting needs, workface planning and schedule and cost review. We can also host custom workshops to address specific issues across contracting, execution and risk management.

Quality Reviews — If you’re already using AWP or a similar construction-driven approach to project delivery, our team can review your engineering, construction and installation work packages. We also provide quality reviews on your Project Execution Plan (PEP), schedule, and more.

Workflow Support — Since we’re involved in your day-to-day operations, our team is in a unique position to provide workflow mapping and analysis, roles and responsibilities alignment, and more.

Risk Identification and Mitigation — Our deep experience in capital project execution helps us to identify and mitigate problems before they become critical issues.

An Exclusive Library — Our team brings a robust library of resources and tools that can support predictable, construction-driven project delivery, including tools, systems, templates, procedures, and more.
