What is the Advanced Work Packaging Certification Program?

The Advanced Work Packaging Certification Program is a self-paced, online training program that provides capital project professionals with a comprehensive understanding of Advanced Work Packaging fundamentals. Course graduates are empowered with the knowledge, skills and tactics they need to work, collaborate and lead effectively in a construction-driven capital project environment.

Who can take the AWP Certification Program? What are the eligibility requirements?

The AWP Certification Program is an in-depth, foundational program designed for AWP practitioners working on construction-driven capital projects of all sizes. It is ideal for project managers, project engineers, project controls professionals, construction managers, program managers, COOs and anyone else involved in overseeing or implementing AWP on a capital project. The program is open to anyone working in capital projects, however we’ve found that students with three or more years’ experience derive the most benefit from the program.

What are the learning objectives of the AWP Certification Program?

AWP Certification Program graduates understand the most important components of AWP and are fluent in AWP fundamentals. They know how to apply AWP to capital projects, and are prepared to develop specific implementation strategies in their own organizations. In addition, graduates develop a solid understanding of stakeholder roles and responsibilities. Finally, the course clears up common misunderstandings and myths concerning AWP.

How do I get certified?

The AWP Certification Program includes 37 unique learning modules covering the full lifecycle of a construction-driven capital project.  At the end of each module, students must take and pass a quiz to continue the course. When the course is complete, Concord® Academy will send you a signed, digital AWP certification. This can be shared online and posted to your LinkedIn profile.

How long is certification valid? How do I recertify?

Concord®’s AWP Certification is valid for two years from the date of the final exam. To maintain your certification, simply continue your education by taking refresher courses as required. Alternatively, you can complete Concord® field surveys, which are designed to help our team better understand what is working for front-line AWP practitioners, and what’s not. If you choose not to continue your education or respond to surveys, you will have to retake the course or the exam at the end of the two-year period.

Is there an exam?

There is no final exam, however, students must take and pass 37 tests/quizzes throughout the course.

Who uses and/or endorses the Concord® AWP Certification Program?

The AWP Certification Program is endorsed and overseen by the Advanced Work Packaging Institute, a U.S.-based organization dedicated to supporting and serving capital project professionals. The program has been used by individuals around the world and adopted by some of the world’s biggest companies, including Shell and Samsung. The courses are offered in-app by industry leaders 03 Solutions and Blacksmithsoft.

What do I receive as proof of certification?

Graduates will receive a signed, electronic certificate via email. This can be posted on LinkedIn page, shared as a link in a resumé, or sent to a traditional printer and framed for posting in your office.

I don’t have a computer or internet access, can I get my certification in person?

In-person training is currently suspended due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Concord® provides in-person training to small and large groups in an enterprise setting. Team members who choose to do so can sit for the exam after the in-person training. For more details about our custom enterprise training options, vision out Enterprise Training page. Concord® does not currently offer in-person training for individuals outside a corporate setting.
